Monthly contact lenses can be worn daily for up to 30 consecutive days before they need to be replaced with a new set. Re-usable lenses offer all the benefits of soft lenses and are more cost-effective than daily disposables for those who wear their lenses every day or almost every day.

There are different types of monthly contact lenses, designed to correct different visual problems. If you don't mind a regular lens cleaning routine, then monthly lenses may be more suitable for you than daily disposable contact lenses.

Monthly contacts can be worn all day and must be taken out before sleeping to be cleaned and stored, ready for the next day. You must clean and store them using the solution recommended by your eye care practitioner.

How do you clean monthly contact lenses?

Here are the steps to follow for cleaning your monthly contact lenses:

  1. Wash your hands - remember to dry your hands with lint-free towel.
  2. Apply contact lens solution - place each contact lens into the palm of your hand, one at a time. Apply a few drops of contact lens solution such as comfi All-in-One Solution to your lens.
  3. Clean the lenses - gently rub the lens back and forth with your index finger and thumb to clean the surface of the lens for at least 10 seconds.
  4. Rinse the lens - Applying a few more drops of contact lens solution, rinse the lens with the lens solution (saline solution or multi-purpose solution). Please note that saline solution isn't a disinfectant.
  5. Fill your clean case – put your lens into a clean contact lens case filled with fresh disinfecting solution. Never top up an old solution with more.
  6. Repeat - repeat the same for your other lens.
  7. Soak the lenses - leave both lenses to soak in the lens holder as per the recommendation mentioned on your product packaging.

Remember:

  • Put the lid back on the solution bottle, or it will get contaminated.
  • Throw your solution away 28 days or two months after opening, don’t just wait for the solution to run out.
