A Complete Guide to Refractive Errors
Refractive errors are the most common type of vision problems that affect people of all ages worldwide. They occur when the structural irregularities in the eye prevent light from focusing on the retina, the light-sensitive layer at the back of the eye. This leads to distorted or blurry vision.
Bipolar Eyes: Causes, Signs and Symptoms
‘Bipolar eyes’ is a nonclinical term used to describe subtle changes in the appearance of the eyes that may be linked to individuals with bipolar disorder. This is a mental health condition in which people go through extreme mood changes. They either feel extremely happy, showing energetic or excited behaviour or feel extremely sad, showing signs of being drained out. While extreme happiness in clinical terms is called a ‘mania’ or ‘hypomania’, extreme sadness is called a ‘depressive’ episode. Some changes in the behaviour of eyes that may occur during a bipolar episode include pupil size, eye movements and eye contact.
Eye Vitamins and Supplements for Better Ocular Health
Healthy living and nutrition aren’t just limited to losing weight or keeping your blood sugar levels in check. Retaining your eye health and caring for your vision are also inseparable parts of your overall health. You may be getting regular eye checks, wearing the correct prescription, avoiding sun damage with 100% UV-protective sunglasses and wearing blue light glasses when using screens to help with digital strain, but that is not all your eyes need. As per experienced opticians, every individual (young or old) can consider adding certain eye vitamins and supplements to their everyday diet to preserve the quality of their vision and maintain your eye health.
