Acuvue Oasys vs Acuvue Vita
Medically reviewed by Sharon Copeland on 9 July 2021
Both Acuvue Oasys and Acuva Vita by Johnson & Johnson are both silicone hydrogel contact lenses made from Senofilcon material. In addition to this, they both have exactly the same oxygen permeability with a 147 DK/t; and share many similarities including tinting, inside out mark, prescription parameters and having Class 1 UV blocker, which means they are able to filter out more than 99% UVA and UVB rays.
What is the difference between Acuvue Oasys and Acuvue Vita?
The difference between Acuvue Oasys and Vita is the replacement schedule. Oasys are 2 week contact lenses whereas Acuvue Vita are monthly contact lenses. Vita is made from a newer version of Senofilcon which is why it has a longer replacement schedule. In addition to this, both lenses use different hydration technology. Vita uses HydraMax while Oasys uses HYDRACLEAR PLUS Technology with a Polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) based wetting agent.
Our specification table below shows a detailed comparison between Acuvue Oasys and Vita. You’ll notice that Vita does not cater for presbyopia while Acuvue Oasys does:

Which Lens should you get, Acuvue Oasys or Vita?
Before deciding on which lens you should get, you should speak to your optician to see what they recommend for you as only they will be able to determine what’s right for your eyes and lifestyle.
You may prefer Acuvue Oasys if you’re after a more hygienic lens wearing option as these lenses are thrown away every two weeks as opposed to monthly. They may also be favoured if you are looking to correct presbyopia.
Acuvue Vita may be a better option for you if you’re on a budget and happy to clean your lenses every day for up to a month before throwing them away.
