What is the difference between Proclear and Biofinity contact lenses?
Proclear is a much older lens than Biofinity, having come out 10 years before. This means that the technology in this lens is not as advanced as it’s more recent rival. One of the most immediate differences is the material, Biofinity is made from a silicone hydrogel material, whereas Proclear is a hydrogel lens. As a newer and more advanced material, silicone hydrogel allows more oxygen through the lens to reach the eye, for long lasting breathability.
Both of these lenses are monthly replacement and daily wear. Although Biofinity might win in terms of breathability, Proclear does have a higher water content which results in greater hydration for the eyes.
Can I sleep in CooperVision biofinity?
This lens can be worn as a daily wear lens for up to 30 days as a monthly replacement schedule. Or can be worn as extended wear for up to 6 nights and 7 days if approved by your optician.
Which is better Proclear or Biofinity?
Both of these soft contact lenses have their benefits. Biofinity contact lenses are suitable for patients that are looking for excellent health and comfort from a lens; they can wear them as dailies for up to 30 days or for up to 6 nights and 7 days as extended wear, if approved by their optician. In addition to being ideal for new wearers, Biofinity contact lenses are also an ideal upgrade for existing wearers who want better lens performance. This lens comes as a family of lenses featuring toric, multifocal and XR power lenses. The range also includes Biofinity energys which is a lens designed for computer users.
Biofinity has a higher oxygen transmissibility than the Proclear lens, although the Proclear has a higher water content. Both lenses are great for dry eyes, the water content of Proclear is designed to help with hydration and Biofinity utilises a material that doesn’t absorb the tears, providing comfort. Biofinity is a newer lens with a more advanced material, although there may be some instances where Proclear would be a better choice. You should always consult your eye care professional first as they will be able to tell you which is the best choice for your eyes and your lifestyle.
